The country offers breathtaking landscapes and very colorful towns.There are also seven Unesco World Heritage Sites, including spectacular looking churches with wonderful frescoes in Romania.

 

Romanian gave birth to some extraordinary scientists and engineers whose inventions include insulin, fountain pen, biospeleology and parachuted chair, an early version of today’s ejection seat.

 

Timisoara, one of the most beautiful and vibrant Romanian metropolises, was the first mainland European city to be lit by electric street lamps, back in 1884, second only to New York City.

 

Count Dracula, a fictional character in the Dracula novel, was inspired by one of the best-known figures of Romanian history, Vlad Dracula, nicknamed Vlad Tepes. The country is full of Dracula-related relics, and several castles are linked to the legend, the most well-known being Bran Castle.

Romania holds the biggest population of bears and wolves in all of Europe, but they are confined to secluded mountain areas, so the chance of meeting them are slim, even when hiking.

Romania is a meat-eaters’ paradise because its gastronomy is very generous to meat as the main ingredient in most recipes. For vegetarians, there are plenty of side dishes to combine.

Romanian people are friendly and hospitable, and proud of their traditions, especially in the countryside.
